With sorrow we inform IUNVA members of the death on 15 Nov 2023 of Bty Sgt Frank O’Connor Retd, Clondalkin and late of Finglas, 2 FA Regt and Ceremonial Section DFHQ, Post 1 member and a former National Development Officer.

Frank passed away peacefully in St James’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Marguerite and much loved father of Ashleigh, Martina and Glenn, loving brother of Pat, Brendan, Tony, Martin, Liam and the late Sean. frank will be very dearly missed by his loving wife, children, sons-in-law Anton and Matthew, grandchildren Jack, Cian, Alex and Flynn, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at the Brian McElroy Funeral Home, Monastery Road, Clondalkin Village on Friday from 1700 to 1900. Funeral Mass on Monday at 1030 in The Church of the Sacred Heart, Arbour Hill and afterwards to The Temple, Newlands Cross Cemetery for Cremation.

Death of Sgt Norman Mason (Retd) 12/11/2023

With sadness we inform IUNVA members of the death on Sunday 12 Nov 2023 of Sgt Norman Mason (Retd) late of the Cav Corps, The Commons, Duleek, Co Meath and Donnycarney, Dublin at his residence. 

He was predeceased by his brother Dick and sister Angela. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Kay, his special pet, Judy, his daughters, Catherine, Maria and Valerie, sons in law, Stephen, Ian and Scott, brothers, Noel and Jimmy, grandchildren, Gavin, Andrew, Sinead, William, Logan and Niamh, his greatgrandchild, Cillian, brothers and sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass for Norman was held on 13/11/2023 in St. Cianan’s Church, Duleek, followed by burial afterwards in The Good Shepherd Cemetery.

He joined the DF as an apprentice MT Fitter in the AAS, Devoy Bks, Naas and he served in a number of Cav Corps units including 4 Mot Sqn, 3 Mot Sqn FCA and 2 Mot Sqn.  He served in the Congo with the Armd Car Gp, 37 Inf Bn from May to Nov 1962, he served in Cyprus with Armd Car Gps 4 Inf Gp from Jan to Jul 1965 and with 8 Inf Gp from Mar to Sep 1967.
