Obituary Capt Patrick J. Kilgannon (Retd) – 27 January 2026

With sadness we inform members of the death on 27 Jan 2026 of Capt Patrick J. Kilgannon (Retd) Newbridge, Co Kildare and late of 1 AA Regt, Arty Corps, Magee Bks, Kildare.  He passed away peacefully in the excellent care of St Brigid’s Hospice, Curragh, Kildare – 27 January 2026. He was predeceased by his wife Jean and John and Mary his brother and sister. Missed now by Carol, Jerry, Mary, Ann and David, grandchildren Molly, Troy, Ruth and Jane, and brother and sister Chris and Breege and all his nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

He enlisted as a trainee fitter armourer with the first platoon at AAS, Devoy Bks Naas in 1956 and he was assigned to 4 Grn Ord Coy in 1959.  He served as a Sgt with A Coy 42 Inf Bn in Cyprus from Apr to Sep 1965.  He was selected as a student on 3 Pot Officers Course and he commissioned on 14 June 1976.  He served at Magee Barracks Kildare.

Reposing in Anderson & Leahy’s Funeral Home, Henry Street, Newbridge on Thursday from 1600 until 1900 There will be a service for friends and family to remember Pat at 1300 on Friday 30 Jan at Anderson & Leahy’s Funeral Home, to which you are welcome, followed by interment afterwards in St Conleth’s Cemetery, Newbridge at 1400.

Obituary Tom Lynch – 24 January 2026

With sadness we inform members of the death on 24 Jan 2026 of Thomas (Tom) Lynch, Old Road, Kildare Town, Co Kildare and late of S&T Corps, Clarke Bks,  The Curragh Camp. Tom passed away peacefully at Tallaght Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Pre deceased by his brother Mick and sister Alice (Sa). Tom will be sadly missed by his loving wife Elizabeth, daughter Jo, sons Tommy, Brendan and Sean, son-in-law Johnny, daughters-in-law Dawn, Alma and Ashling, grandchildren Nadine, Kerri, Katie, Izzy, Colm, Eoghan, Erica and Oisin, great grandson Patrick, sister Mary, brother Peter, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Requiem Mass was celebrated on Tuesday 27 Jan 2026 in St Brigid’s Parish Church, Kildare Town, followed by burial in  St Conleths Cemetery, Kildare Town.

Obituary BQMS Frank Fogarty Retd – 23 January 2026

With sadness we inform members of the death on 23 Jan 2026 of BQMS Frank Fogarty Retd, Sarsfields Drive, Newbridge, Co Kildare, formerly of Fortal, Birr, Co Offaly and late of 3 Inf Bn Curragh Camp.  He passed away surrounded by his loving family.  He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, mother and father. Sadly missed by his loving wife Ann, daughter Caroline, sons Richard and Mark, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and their partners, great-grandchild, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday 27 Jan int St Conleth’s Parish Church with burial afterwards in St. Conleth’s Cemetery, Newbridge.

Obituary Martin Duhig – 10 January 2026

With sadness we inform members of the death on 11 Jan 2026 of Martin Duhig, Naas Co Kildare, formerly of the Curragh Camp and late of 3 Inf Bn and 30 Inf Bn.  He passed away peacefully at his home.  He was predeceased by his beloved son Ciaran. He will be sadly missed by his family, loving wife Annette, daughters Elaine, Valerie and Ciara, son Stephen, grandchildren and great grandchild, sisters Mary, Teresa and Geraldine, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and comrades.

Requiem Mass was celebrated on 16 Jan 2026 at the Church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballycane, Naas followed by burial at St. Corbans Cemetery. 

He completed a number of tours of duty as a peacekeeper in Lebanon including with 48, 69, and 74 Inf Bns,

Obituary Former Sgt Bob Fleming – 10 January 2026

With sadness we inform members of the death on 10 Jan 2026 of Sgt Robert (Bob) Fleming, Somerville, Tramore, Co. Waterford and late of 2 Cav Sqn.  Bob passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the Mater Hospital, Dublin, following a short illness. Bob will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken wife Rita and his sons Robert, Paul and Alan; his daughters in law Lisa, Mandy and Chloe; his loving and much loved grandchildren Megan, Zoe, Josh, Mia, Erin and Sophie. Bob will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters, all his nieces and nephews; his in -laws; his extended family, relatives, wonderful, and many many friends. The Fleming family would like to thank with great appreciation all the staff in the ICU in the Mater Hospital for the great care Bob received during his time there.  

Requiem Mass took place on the 16 Jan 2026 in The Church of the Holy Cross, Tramore and was laid to rest in St. Declans Cemetery, Tramore. 

He enlisted in the Defence Forces on 05 December 1979 and he served  21 years in 2 Cav Sqn until his retirement on 04th December 2000.  He completed two tours of duty with UNIFIL in 1982 and in 1998.

Obituary Post 1 member Former Sgt Paddy Hughes – 08 January 2026

With sadness we inform members of the death on 8 Jan 2026 of Post 1 member former Sgt Patrick (Paddy) Hughes (Retd), Dublin 1 and Blackhall Place, An Post Sheriff St and late of 2 FA Regt.  Beloved husband of the late Esther, loving father of Rosemary, Pat, Yvonne and the late Bernadette, cherished grandad Paddy to Suzanne, Laura-Michelle and Wendy and great-grandad to Kyla, Megan, Ethan and Amelia and father-in-law of the late Geri. Sadly missed by his loving family, sons-in-law Don and Robert, brother Richard, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Requiem Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arbour Hill Garrison Chapel on 14 Jan 2026,  followed by burial at Dardistown Cemetery.

Paddy was born on 25 Jul 1927 and he joined the army in Aug 1949. On completion of his three star training he was assigned to the Arty Sch, later he transferred to 2 FA Regt. He served in the Congo at HQ ONUC in Leopoldville in 1963.  He served as a Sgt in the Office of  D Arty until his retirement in 1971.

Obituary Capt Philip Brunkard (Retd) – 11 January 2026

With sadness we inform members of the death on 11 Jan 2026 of Post 1 member Capt Philip Brunkard (Retd), Clondalkin, Dublin 22 and formerly Inchicore and late of the Corps of Engineers.  He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Doreen and much loved father to John, Philip, Conor and Keith. Philip will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his sons, daughters in law Lynn, Asha, Christine and Hilda, his nine grandchildren Damon, Kieran, Arun, Tia, Sam, Ryan, Zena, Keenan and Vala, great grandson Christopher, brothers James and Tom, sisters in law Helen, Margaret and Rita, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and colleagues in IUNVA Post 1 Arbour Hill.

Requiem Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Clondalkin on 14 Jan 2026, followed by burial in Newlands Cross Cemetery.

He was commissioned into the Engineer Corps in 1965 and he served in Dep Engrs.  He served in Cyprus in the rank of Lieut with 9 Inf Gp as Engr Offr from Sep 1968 to Mar 1968.
