On 23 May 2024, UNIFIL FC Lt Gen Aroldo Lázaro Sáenz and the Lebanese Armed Forces paid tribute to Sgt Faridah Abd Rahman (36), a Malaysian peacekeeper who passed away suddenly at her base in Maarakeh. The UNIFIL head and the LAF representative also awarded posthumously the deceased peacekeeper UN and LAF medals respectively for her dedicated service for peace in south Lebanon.
Sgt Rahman joined the Armed Forces in 2007 and she died after suffering a heart attack on 18 May. We extend our condolences to her family and fellow peacekeepers. She is survived by her husband and four children aged from four to ten years of age.
