IUNVA welcomed members of the Chaplaincy Service to Arbour Hill on Tuesday 23 Jan 2024. IUNVA members attended mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arbour Hill, in memory of chaplains who have passed away, the mass was celebrated by Fr. Des Campion SDB CF Naval Service.

Fr. Paschal Hanrahan HCF laid a wreath at the memorial to the 97 Irish citizens who died while on peace support operations.

A briefing on the association was given to the chaplains by the National Welfare Officer, the National Ceremonial Officer and the National PRO.
The briefing covered our association’s history, membership, governance, funding, our welfare activities in providing of a range of support services for members, their dependants and other veterans, our ceremonial and remembrance activities, our participation in events organized by the State, Óglaigh na hÉireann, An Garda Síochána, local authorities, local communities and other national veterans’ associations.

It included our close co-operation and relations with the Defence Forces, the Department of Defence and other Veterans Organisations ONE, ARCO, RBL, Leopardstown Park Hospital Trust and other associations.

We were delighted to meet with the chaplains and to give them an insight into IUNVA and also to acknowledge the marvelous work done by chaplains in support of personnel day in day out both at home and on overseas service.
